The object of Blackjack is to finish a hand with a higher total than that of the dealer. Game play begins when each player places a bet. Each player is dealt two cards face-up. The dealer will also receive two cards, one card face up and the other face down. The face down card is often referred to as a "hole card."

Each numbered card's value is it's number. Face cards (Jack, Queen, and King) have a value of 10. Aces can be worth 11 or 1 depending on the situation. Each player in turn will get the opportunity to accept more cards (hit) or play with their current hand (stand). If a player's hand exceeds 21, that player busts and is out of the game.

After each player's turn is finished, the dealer will turn over their hole card. If the dealer's hand is 16 or less, the dealer must hit. When the dealer's total is 17 or more, the dealer must stand. If the dealer's total is greater than 21, the dealer busts and all of the remaining players win the hand. If the dealer's stands with a total of 21 or less, the dealer's hand is compared to each player's hand. The player wins if their total is higher than the dealer's and does not exceed 21.
